Quick Reference Guide of Screens used in 1stReader v2.00.
Date of current version: [95-04-23] Previous update: [94-12-07]
(Findings are based on the 94-04-19 beta release)
SCREENS.TXT is an ASCII text file containing all the screen and field
reference numbers within 1stReader.
Every field on a screen has a designated number. This can facilitate
creating a special file that contains variable data that you may wish
to "import" into 1stReader. For example, while in the Send(Save)
Message screen (screen number 15), you can position your selection on
the "To:" field (field number 02) and press the F8 key. This action
will search for and retrieve a file called $$1502.LST, your address
book.
If you were in the same screen (15) and positioned your selection on
the tagline area, then pressing F8 will bring up a series of tagline
files by accessing a file called $$1506.LST. (Quick quiz... guess
the field number of the tagline book.)
The instructions laid out below will show you how to add the
SCREENS.TXT file to your 1stReader environment.
======================================================================
Adding the SCREENS - Quick Reference Guide to 1stReader:
======================================================================
Copy the SCREENS.TXT file to your main 1stReader directory. (This is
usually C:\1ST in most installations.)
Then use one of the following methods...
o Access method 1: add a line to your $$1ST.CMD file...
Display Screens,DISPLAY=SCREENS.TXT
This method uses 1stReader's internal display facility.
o Alternate access method 2: add a line to your $$1ST.CMD file...
Edit Screens,1STEDIT SCREENS.TXT /NOCLS /CURSOR_OFF
This method uses 1stReader's supplied external editor.
o Alternate access method 3: add a line to your $$1ST.CMD file...
List Screens,LIST SCREENS.TXT /EXIT /NOCLS /CURSOR_OFF
This method uses Veron D. Buerg's LIST shareware program.
After employing any (or all) of the above access methods, a simple
pressing of the F7 key while in 1stReader will provide you with a
menu for selecting the SCREENS.TXT file.
